The Road Safety Team of East riding of Yorkshire Council, have been delivering the ‘Buswise/Road Safety’ element of the crime awareness days with the Prison me, no way trust for a number of years. It is delivered in schools across the East Riding to various year groups in secondary schools.
Due to a number of incidents on home to school transport, it was identified that a reporting system was required to investigate anti-social behaviour, bullying, poor bus service and any other cause for concern on the school buses. Our presentation promotes awareness of the system, and how to use it. It also warns of the consequences for those engaged in anti-social behaviour of any kind, while on the school bus.
The presentation also includes an extensive Road Safety message, and it’s relevance to crime awareness to that year group. The interactive presentation covers topics such as: cycling, driver and passenger safety and encourages the participants to think about their involvement in Road Safety, and the decisions and choices that they make now, and in the future.
This year our session has been extremely successful with pupils continuing to participate really well, as always it has been brilliant to be a part of Prison me, No way and we look forward to the upcoming events.
