One of the workshops conducted by the team focused on giving students a glimpse into the reality of prison life. Through interactive discussions and activities, the students gained a deeper understanding of the consequences of criminal behaviour and the challenges faced by individuals within the criminal justice system. A simulated prison cell experience allowed them to reflect on the importance of making positive choices and avoiding actions that could lead to incarceration.

Choices Led by Current Serving Prisoners:

Another workshop, titled “Choices” was facilitated by current serving prisoners. This session aimed to bring firsthand perspective to the students, enphasizing the importance of making responsible decisions and the impact of their choices on their own lives and wider community. By sharing their personal stories, the prisoners encouraged the students to think critically about their actions and consider the potential consequences.

One Punch and County Lines:

PMNW also addressed the issues of “One Punch” and “County Lines” in seperate workshops. The One Punch workshop highlighted the devastating consequences of a single act of violence and emphasised the importance of non-violence and conflict resolution. Meanwhile, County Lines workshop shed light on dangers and consequences of involvement in drug trafficking networks, education students about the realities of this criminal activity and encouraging them to make informed choices.

Network Rail VR Experience:

To provide students with a unique learning experience, the team collaborated with Network Rail to introduce Virtual Reality (VR) sets. Through this innovative technology, students were able to witness the realistic consequences of train crashes, showing the importance of adhering to safety guidelines and being aware of potential dangers. This immersive experience helped instill a greater understanding and respect for rail safety.

Northern Power Grid: Importance of Electricity and Safety:

Lastly, PMNW partnered with Northern Power Grid to educate students about the importance of electricity and how to stay safe around electrical infrastructure. Through interactive activities, students learned about the role of electricity in their daily lives and the potential dangers associated with mishandling electrical equipment. This workshop aimed to promote responsible behaviour and empower students to make informed decisions regarding electricity usage.
