PATRON PROFILE
HOWARD WEBB MBE
Howard Webb was a high-profile Premier League, FIFA & UEFA referee and is the only referee to have officiated the prestigious FIFA World Cup Final and UEFA Champions League Final in the same year (2010). During his 25-year career, he refereed more than five hundred combined matches in the English Premier League and Football League.
Following his retirement from refereeing in 2014 Howard worked as a commentator with BT Sport and was a technical director for Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL). In 2017 he joined the PRO (Professional Referee Organization in the United States and Canada) as their manager of video assistant referee operations. In 2018 he became General Manager of the (PRO) overseeing the Major League Soccer (MLS) in the USA & Canada. In December 2022 he returned to English football to become Chief Refereeing Officer of PGMOL.
Howard was introduced to The No Way Trust (Prison Me No Way) whilst still a serving South Yorkshire Police Officer through one of our enthused staff members, Gerry Corns, and their shared support for Rotherham United FC. Howard’s interest in our charities work was instant, enthusiastic, and profound and an invite to a Prison Me No Way event at a school soon after, sparked an interest and partnership which has gone from strength to strength and helped to keep our young safe and avoid crime, for over 15 years.
In his time with The No Way Trust, Howard has participated at fundraising events, spoken at local and national PMNW events, visited schools with PMNW and given motivational presentations to young people and been an inspiration to everybody he has met. He always makes time for everybody and his impact on the work of our charity has been long lasting and immense.
