Questions were developed by Sirius Academy West & Malet Lambert School pupils in aid of young persons anonymous research
The YAG hub visited 2 school councils in Hull on the 19th October 2016 in support the Youth Advisory Group (YAG). The teenage members were asked to produce questions for their school pupils to complete anonymously around their experience of crime and safety. Question examples were: have you ever been a victim of theft? have you ever discriminated against someone? ‘The questions produced are very thought provoking and have been quite a surprise’ says Emma Wray, Senior Management Team Member and added ‘it will help the Trust get a much better understanding of what are the main crime and safety issues facing pupils in the Hull area.‘ Fiona Stamford, YAG lead said ‘it is soo important the school council members develop these questions, they know what is happening, especially when it comes to matters of concern around Social Media’.
Emma and Fiona thanked Mr Bayston from Sirus Academy West and Mr Legard and Dawn Harrison from Malet Lambert for organising these sessions.
It is hoped the YAG Hub will simulate research in London schools within the next few months. Geographical factors play a huge part in the problems that young people face.
